Solar for medically vulnerable households
A separate, fully funded programme for homes where someone relies on essential electrically powered medical or life-support equipment.
Fully funded
Up to 4 kWp of solar PV and a 5 kWh battery, subject to conditions.
Who it is for
This fully funded programme supports eligible homes where someone depends on essential electrically powered medical or life-support equipment. The 2026 expansion provides for up to 4 kWp of solar PV and 5 kWh of battery storage, subject to the programme conditions and home suitability.
How it works
Contact your electricity supplier and ask whether the household member is recorded in the Life Support category on its Priority Services Register. Ask the supplier about the SEAI scheme and how suitable homes are assessed and referred.
This is not the usual customer-selected installer grant. A medical diagnosis on its own does not establish eligibility, and you should not pay a deposit to anyone claiming an immediate entitlement under this free scheme without checking with the supplier first.
This programme is arranged through your supplier and SEAI, so Bright Star is not the installer here. We have set it out so the option is clear. For anything outside it, we are glad to help.
