Standard solar PV grant

The standard SEAI solar PV grant

The grant most Irish homes use. Up to €1,800 towards solar panels, plus €600 for a home battery, paid to you after the work is done.

Up to €2,400

Up to €1,800 for panels and €600 for a 5 kWh battery, combined.

How much you get

The grant pays €700 per kWp for the first 2 kWp, then €200 per kWp up to 4 kWp, capped at €1,800. A 2 kWp system brings in €1,400, and a 4 kWp or larger system gets the full €1,800.

A home battery of 5 kWh or more adds a €600 grant on top, so solar and a battery together come to as much as €2,400. Both can go in on a single application.

Who qualifies

  • The home was built and occupied before 2025
  • It has an MPRN, the number on your electricity bill
  • No solar PV grant has been claimed on the house before
  • The work is done by an SEAI registered installer

How to apply

You apply on the SEAI solar portal at mgen.seai.ie before any work starts, and name Bright Star Electric as your registered installer. We handle the application with you so nothing is missed.

Once the grant is approved you have eight months to get the work done. After the install, a post-works BER assessment closes out the claim, and SEAI usually pays the grant into your account within four to six weeks.

This is our bread and butter. Book a free consultation and you get a fixed quote with the grant already worked in, and we look after the application and the BER.

We handle the grant, you keep the saving.
